The Interior Ministry has developed a plan to improve road safety

An action plan has been prepared in Russia to implement a strategy to improve road safety. This was announced on May 21 by Oleg Ponarin, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as part of the scientific and practical forum "Together for Road Safety", held at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Various ministries and departments, as well as public organizations, representatives of the transport and road industries participated in the development of this plan, Ponariin said.

"The plan contains five main sections, including those devoted to the development of the medical component, modern and safe vehicles, and road infrastructure. It includes 269 key measures aimed at improving road safety and reducing accident and mortality rates. We hope that it will be approved by the Russian government in the near future," said the deputy head of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

In November last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "Approving the Strategy for Improving Road Safety in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036." The main goal of the strategy is to reduce road deaths by one and a half times by 2030 and by two times by 2036 (compared to the level of 2023).

As it became known on May 15, the State Duma rejected a bill on amendments to the Administrative Code, which proposed to consolidate administrative responsibility for violations of the average speed of movement, if it is recorded by traffic cameras.
