A gas explosion and a fire in an apartment building in Lobnya, Moscow region. What is known

An explosion of household gas occurred in an apartment building on Kalinina Street in Lobnya, Moscow region. As a result, the inter-apartment wall collapsed and a fire started. Two people were killed — a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Two children were hospitalized. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the incident

The fire occurred on the morning of May 21 in one of the apartments on the third floor of house No. 8 on Kalinina Street. As a result of the incident, two adults were killed: a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man.

It is specified that the woman lived in a neighboring apartment and died under the rubble of a collapsed wall. The man was the owner of the apartment where the explosion occurred. Two children, girls aged 11 and three— were admitted to the hospital with poisoning from gorenje products.

According to the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow region, the official cause was an explosion of household gas. Investigators and criminologists are working at the scene of the incident, as well as an expert examination.

The published Izvestia footage shows that the building was severely damaged after the fire. A local resident, Irina Orlova, said that the explosion occurred around five in the morning.

"Well, there was an explosion at about ten minutes to five, a dog and a cat jumped into my bed and the dog started whining. I ran out onto the balcony and saw a fire from the window of the neighbor opposite, and there were already bars for the windows below. <...> There was a lot of smoke in another apartment," she said.

According to an eyewitness, emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene, who climbed the stairs to the apartments and opened the doors. Orlova also noted that a man who abused alcoholic beverages lived in the apartment where the explosion occurred. According to her assumption, the tenant could have left the gas open and used a lighter.
