- The sinologist pointed to the formation of exemplary relations between Russia and China
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are building exemplary relations between their countries. Alexey Maslov, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies (ISAA) at Moscow State University (MSU), told Izvestia on May 20.
"The leaders of the two states have consistently formed exemplary relations, which was confirmed by the adoption of a joint declaration on the establishment of a multipolar world. This document reinforces the commitment of Russia and China to the principles of equal partnership, mutual respect and joint formation of a just world order," he said.
Maslov added that the talks between Xi Jinping and Putin during the Russian leader's visit to China are strategic. The meeting, as the sinologist pointed out, shows the gradual development of relations between the countries and the deepening of bilateral cooperation against the background of a changing world order.
On the same day, Putin and Xi Jinping signed a Declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations. Following the meeting, the leaders also adopted a joint statement on further strengthening partnership and deepening Russian-Chinese relations.
In addition, Xi Jinping said that among other agreements between Russia and China, the concept of a community of "Common Destiny of mankind" and four other global initiatives have been put forward. The Chinese President noted that, as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UN), China and Russia will defend the authority of the United Nations and international justice, counteract all manifestations of hegemony, as well as the resurrection of the germs of fascism and militarism.
