The guests of the reception, organized in honor of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, were offered a menu of Asian and European dishes, as well as prepared a musical program of Russian and Chinese classics. This was reported by TASS on May 20.

The official menu opened with cold appetizers, after which the participants of the event were served broth with shrimp. The main list of dishes included traditional Peking duck, beef in bean sauce, grouper fillet with passion fruit, Funjou noodles, and dried Qinghua ham with vegetables.

For tea and coffee, the guests were offered a dessert menu consisting of pumpkin puffs, chocolate brownies, fruits and ice cream. The range of drinks includes locally produced dry wines: 2016 Changyu white Chardonnay from Beijing and 2009 Greatwall red Cabernet Sauvignon from the Chinese province of Hebei.

The program of the reception was also accompanied by a performance by the military orchestra of the People's Liberation Army of China. The band's repertoire includes "The Melody of the Beijing Opera", as well as works by Russian classics, including "Polovtsian Dances", "Dance of the Little Swans" and "Dance of Reed Flutes".

On the same day, it was reported that Putin, during his official visit to China on May 20, began talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping as part of a tea party between the two leaders. The contacts are held behind closed doors and in a narrow format. Only four members of the delegations from each side are present at the meeting.

During the talks between Putin and Xi Jinping, the parties signed 21 agreements. The signed documents also include a Statement on strengthening comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. The Russian president stated that the agreements between Moscow and Beijing are aimed at the economy. Xi Jinping said that the trade exchange between Russia and China has exceeded the $200 billion mark for the third year in a row.
