Russia and China have expressed concern about the plans of some European Union (EU) countries to acquire nuclear weapons. This follows from a joint statement by the two countries published on May 20 on the Kremlin's website.

"The parties express concern over the statements by a number of formally non—nuclear-weapon states of the European Union in favor of acquiring nuclear weapons," the statement said.

The document also notes that the parties are concerned about the militarization of the Arctic by the United States and its allies. The text emphasizes the need for stability and low military-political tension in the region, as well as the development of constructive dialogue.

On the same day, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted that the world faces the risk of returning to the "law of the jungle" and stressed the increasing importance of the China-Russia good-neighborly agreement.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that countries stand for appreciating the diversity of cultures and respecting the right of each country to its own path of development. Currently, States are striving to create a more just and democratic world order.
