There have been 318 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 318 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 30 people were killed and 370 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on May 20 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
23 accidents involving buses were recorded, as a result of which 34 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 67 accidents involving pedestrians, 32 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 35 outside their area of operation, three people were killed, and 65 more pedestrians were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 28 child pedestrians, 15 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
In addition, over the past day, 63 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, as a result of which one child was killed and 65 young road users were injured, including 13 child passengers and three motor transport drivers.
So, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, late in the evening, on 26 km of the Iglino — Krasny Voskhod highway, a 22-year-old passenger car driver who did not have a driver's license and was intoxicated lost control while driving, after which he allowed the vehicle to leave the road and then roll over. As a result of the accident, a 13-year-old passenger of the car, who was in the back seat and was not wearing a seat belt, was killed.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists about the inadmissibility of driving without training in a driving school and obtaining a driver's license, as well as in a state of intoxication. Such violations pose a deadly danger to drivers themselves, as well as to their passengers and other road users, often causing serious accidents with tragic consequences.
In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate urged citizens not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness at the wheel and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road or pose a threat to the safety of others. Police officers are ready to respond promptly to such reports and take all necessary measures to prevent possible incidents, the department said.
On May 15, the State Duma rejected a bill on amendments to the Administrative Code, which proposed to consolidate administrative responsibility for violations of the average speed of movement, if it is recorded by traffic cameras.
