The creation of NATO analogues in Asia and the alliance's presence in the Asia-Pacific region are incompatible with strengthening security in the region. This follows from a joint statement by the two countries, published on May 20 on the Kremlin's website.

"Actions aimed at expanding the presence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the Asia—Pacific region and creating its Asian counterpart, including on the basis of mechanisms such as AUCUS, are incompatible with the objectives of strengthening regional peace and security," the statement said.

The parties also opposed attempts to destroy the architecture of regional cooperation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations through the active development of block coalitions in the Asia-Pacific region.

On the same day, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted that the world faces the risk of returning to the "law of the jungle" and stressed the increasing importance of the China-Russia good-neighborly agreement. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that countries advocate appreciating the diversity of cultures and respecting the right of each country to its own path of development. Currently, States are striving to create a more just and democratic world order.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping signed a declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations. The Russian President noted that the agreement would become the foundation for sustainable development towards the creation of a multipolar world.
