Russia and China have agreed on the need to completely eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis based on compliance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN). This became known on May 20 from the text of the joint statement of the two countries, published on the Kremlin's website.

"The parties are convinced of the need to completely eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis based on compliance with the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety, totality and interrelation in order to ensure mutual security and form the foundations of sustainable peace," the document says.
