Tiananmen Square in Beijing was closed off ahead of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The footage from the meeting place of the two heads of state on May 20 was shown by Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Ivanov.

"The House of People's Assemblies is considered one of the largest parliamentary buildings in the world. There are more than 300 halls here. The whole political life of China is here," he said.

According to Ivanov, an honor guard is already taking up positions along the square. Tiananmen Square, which accommodates about a million people, is now completely closed before the meeting of the leaders of the two countries. There are also many red flowers on the square. Ivanov noted that in traditional Chinese culture, this color is considered a symbol of good luck.
