The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping four days after the visit of the head of the White House Donald Trump to China indicates a strong relationship between the Russian and Chinese leaders. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on May 20.

"This [the Russian president's visit] highlights the deep bond between Putin and the Chinese leader. They have met more than 40 times, which significantly exceeds the number of meetings between Xi Jinping and other Western leaders," the publication says.

William Yang, a senior analyst at the International Crisis Group, suggested that in this way the Chinese president wants to remind Trump that Beijing has other strong and reliable relations. For this reason, Washington will not be able to easily isolate or harm China.

In a video message on the eve of the visit, the head of state noted that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented level. According to him, the countries are actively developing contacts in politics, economics and defense, expanding humanitarian exchange and "encouraging interpersonal communication."
