The fleet of tanker aircraft suffered serious damage. According to the report, the Air Force lost seven KC-135 Stratotanker air tankers. One of them crashed in Iraq, five more were damaged on the ground in Saudi Arabia during the Iranian attack.
Four F-15E Strike Eagle fighter-bombers and an A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft are mentioned among the losses of combat aircraft. According to CRS, three F-15Es were shot down by friendly fire over Kuwait, and another by Iranian air defense systems.
During the search and rescue operations, the US military deliberately destroyed two MC-130J Commando II special operations aircraft on the ground. The HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopter was also damaged.
Additionally, the report mentions damage to the E-3 Sentry long-range radar detection aircraft and the latest fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighter.
The Iran War Cost Tracker portal reported on May 11 that the US costs of conducting a military operation in the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) exceeded $77 billion. According to him, the first six days of the operation cost Washington $11.3 billion.
