The European Union (EU) intends to discuss changing the procedure for extending anti-Russian sanctions, restrictions may begin to be approved once a year, rather than every six months. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on May 19, citing EU diplomats and officials.

"EU leaders will discuss extending the deadline for the re—approval of sanctions against Russia from six months to a year," the article says.

According to the newspaper, this issue is planned to be considered at a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels in June. Now the EU states must regularly unanimously confirm the effect of the sanctions regime.
