Sleeping in a hot room can lead to disruption of thermoregulation processes, which makes it difficult for the body to cool down naturally and prevents normal sleep. Natalia Romanchuk, a somnologist and neurologist from the Samara State Medical University (SamSMU) Clinic of the Russian Ministry of Health, told about this on Tuesday, May 19.

Romanchuk noted in an interview with RT that high indoor temperatures can make sleep more shallow and increase the number of nighttime awakenings. The negative impact of heat on sleep is especially strongly felt in the hottest months of the year and in regions with a hot climate, she stressed.

"Sleep may become more shallow, the number of nighttime awakenings increases, and sweating may increase," said the somnologist.

According to the doctor, if possible, a comfortable cool temperature should be maintained in the bedroom: from +16 to +20 degrees, ventilate the room before going to bed, and use light bedding and sleepwear made of breathable fabrics.

In addition, the quality of sleep in hot weather can be improved in several ways. Romanchuk recommended dimming the lights and reducing the brightness of gadget screens in the evening, as well as using blackout curtains or a sleep mask to maximize the darkening of the bedroom at night. 360.ru .

In turn, Natalia Zolotareva, a cardiologist and somnologist at SM Clinic, told Izvestia on May 6 that after a nap, instead of being cheerful, sometimes a feeling of weakness and fatigue comes. According to her, the feeling of fatigue after sleeping during the day is most often associated with the peculiarities of sleep phases and the moment at which a person wakes up. One of the key reasons is the transition into the deep stages of sleep.

Earlier, on March 16, Irina Golovanova, a neurologist of the highest category, a somnologist at the Center for Cognitive and Psychoemotional Health, told the Moscow City News Agency that in the spring, due to hormonal imbalances in the body, some people may experience anxiety at night and sleep problems.
