- The RIHF challenged the Russian national teams' non-admission to international tournaments at the CAS
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) has filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) not to allow Russian national teams to participate in international competitions. This was announced on May 19 by Dmitry Kurbatov, Director General of the FHR.
"Our application has been reviewed. The disciplinary committee refused us, we appealed to the CAS," he said in an interview with TASS.
Kurbatov also noted that the RIHF is separately challenging the IIHF's decision not to allow Russian hockey players to participate in international youth tournaments. According to him, in December 2025, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russian athletes be allowed to compete in youth competitions with a flag and anthem, but the IIHF decided in January not to follow these recommendations.
On May 18, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) allowed Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments with a flag and anthem. The solution applies to athletic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline jumping, athletic acrobatics, and athletic aerobics.
Chairman of the Olympic Committee, Minister of Sports of Russia Mikhail Degtyarev congratulated all types of gymnastic disciplines on the restoration of integrity. He pointed out that the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation intends to return all Russian athletes to the international start.
