Lyubimova pointed to the success of "Red Silk" at the Chinese box office
The Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" performed well at the Chinese box office, and Russia's Chinese partners are pleased with the premiere. This was announced on May 19 by the head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
"The flattering words are very important to us, and it was a pleasure to hear congratulations from our Chinese partners and colleagues on the premiere and film distribution of Red Silk in China. <...> This is indeed one of the first such Russian-Chinese films to be seen at the Chinese box office. <...> It is very important to us that every such small victory is followed by new, small, but steps in joint activities," she shared in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Viktor Sineok.
According to Lyubimova, Russia and China are already developing five new joint paintings in different genres. She also called important the support from the Cinema Foundation for the sequel to "Red Silk" — the film "Black Silk". The minister pointed out that the Chinese partners of the project were satisfied with the first part.
"Red Silk" was very successful in its genre and at the Russian box office, and our Chinese partners are really pleased with the rental in China. I say this cautiously so far, because, of course, it is very difficult in China to compete with huge Chinese prime ministers," she concluded.
Andrey Volgin, the director of the Red Silk film, told Izvestia on March 19 that the film crew had begun work on the sequel to the Russian-Chinese film Red Silk. The new project is called "Black Silk". His filming takes place both in Russia and in China. Complex technical solutions are used for some scenes, including large-scale decorations and special pavilions.
