NMG and the Shidao Technopark in Shenzhen have launched a strategic partnership in the field of AI

As part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to China, the National Media Group (NMG) and the Shidao Technology Park, which is part of Shenzhen, the largest technology hub in China and the world, signed an agreement on May 19 on strategic partnership in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and technological transformation of the media industry.

The agreement defines NMG's model of cooperation with leading Chinese technology corporations, focused on the transfer of advanced AI solutions to Russia, their scaling in the holding's ecosystem and the commercialization of new digital products.

The pilot project is being implemented jointly with global technology leaders who are residents of Shidao Park. They specialize in digital business transformation, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

As part of the technological testing program, NMG will introduce generative AI products for creating short series and commercials, followed by joint development and localization to meet the requirements of the Russian market. The partnership model of cooperation is aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of production processes, integrating AI solutions and increasing efficiency — from technology adoption to their monetization.

In accordance with the cooperation model, NMG plans to open a regional representative office in China in the territory of advanced development of Shenzhen (Pingshan District, Shidao Film Production and Technology Park), where the headquarters of the largest Chinese technology companies are located. The priority areas of the representative office's work will be the production of content based on the co-production model and the joint development and implementation of AI products for the media, film industry and advertising sector.

"Shenzhen is the intellectual center of China's technological development, and among Shidao's residents and partners are technology leaders such as Tencent Corporation, Volcano Engine, a cloud—based ByteDance service platform, a platform for free viewing of micro-series and reading Hongguo novels, and many others. The opening of an NMG representative office is important here, as the region is home to the headquarters of the giants of the Chinese AI, technology and film industries. The parties are forming a partnership model of cooperation to strengthen the processes of transformation of content production, implementation of AI solutions, and increase efficiency from the introduction of new solutions. Cooperation with Chinese technology leaders, along with the active development of our own digital solutions, will allow us to use the best international practices in the interests of the Russian media market and its consumers," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG.

During Putin's state visit to India on December 5 last year, NMG announced the signing of cooperation agreements with three of the country's largest media companies. Among them are Prasar Bharati, India's largest state—owned broadcasting company, Asian News International (ANI, India), South Asia's leading multimedia news agency, and the Indian media group TV9 Network (Associated Broadcasting Company Private Limited). Balanova then stressed that the centuries—old ties between India and Russia are a solid bridge connecting the two great nations through a wealth of traditions and mutual respect.
