Striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won the Golden Ball five times, is included in the final squad of the Portuguese national team for the 2026 World Cup. This was announced by the press service of the national federation.

"Selected for the 2026 World Cup: <...> Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr)," reads a publication on the federation's website.

Ronaldo, along with Lionel Messi, are the only active players who have participated in five World Cups. Besides them, Mexicans Antonio Carbajal and Rafael Marquez, as well as German Lothar Mattheus, played in five championships.
