The priest told whether it is possible to swim on Whitsunday

The Church does not impose any strict prohibitions on the feast of the Holy Trinity, Archpriest Maxim Pervozvansky, a cleric of the Moscow Church of the Forty Sevastian Martyrs in Spasskaya Sloboda, told Izvestia. He called all "folk" prohibitions related to bathing, omens or household rituals the deepest superstitions.

"Our people are wonderful and resourceful. He wants to give spiritual meaning to the most diverse aspects of life, and the easiest way to do this is to forbid something. In ancient religions, this was called "taboo." Any such prohibitions are a manifestation of primitive religious feeling. But, as a rule, it is important only for those who do not have more serious and deep religious feelings," the priest noted.

Visiting the cemetery on this day is also not prohibited. However, Archpriest Maxim advised, if possible, to do this the day before — on Trinity Parents' Saturday. This is one of the two main parental Saturdays, when believers commemorate all Orthodox Christians who have died from time immemorial.

"Imagine if you were in church on Friday evening, then on Saturday morning, then on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, we [participated] in a long service with kneeling prayers, where else would you like to go to the cemetery? And why do you need to go to the cemetery on this day?" — said Father Maxim.

It is much more natural, according to him, to spend time with loved ones at the festive table after the service.
