The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) are conducting investigative activities in cases of corruption in the country's Supreme Court. This was reported by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on May 19.

"[Investigative measures] are carried out at the place of work, residence and in vehicles of a number of current and former judges of the Supreme Court [of Ukraine]. This includes the former head of the Supreme Court, whose case is being heard in the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine," the publication cites a statement from the Ukrainian anti—corruption authorities.

It is noted that in May 2023, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vsevolod Knyazev and a lawyer were caught red-handed at the time of receiving a $450,000 bribe. The next day, the plenum of the Supreme Court expressed no confidence in Knyazev, and he lost his position.

On May 16, Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser announced that the European Union (EU) intends to increase pressure on Ukraine's anti-corruption authorities amid scandals. It is indicated that if President Volodymyr Zelensky is replaced by another politician, "he may also become the subject of an anti-corruption investigation."
