Anton Palyulin, a lecturer at the Department of Fundamental Legal and Socio-Humanitarian Disciplines at Synergy University, told Izvestia about this on May 19.

According to the expert, responsibility for such violations is regulated by federal and regional legislation. The key criterion is the amount of damage, which is calculated not by the market value of the plant, but by special taxes and methods.

"The main distinction between an administrative offense and a crime under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is based on the amount of damage," Palyulin said.

The lawyer explained that in Moscow, the cost of a damaged plant is determined taking into account the cost of cultivation, age, type and condition of the plant, as well as coefficients of social significance, location and inflation.

If a person breaks one branch, he may face an administrative fine. For individuals, it ranges from 3.5 thousand to 4 thousand rubles according to the Administrative Code of Moscow.
