Xiaomi's crossover has surpassed Audi and Porsche to become the fastest SUV in the world.

The electric Xiaomi YU7 GT became the fastest crossover on the famous Nurburgring-Nordschleife race track, ahead of the Audi and Porsche models. This was reported on May 19 by the Chinese portal Autohome with reference to the company's press service.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT crossover drove a lap along the 20.8-kilometer race track in 7 minutes 34.931 seconds. The electric car was driven by Xiaomi Auto's chief test pilot Ren Zhoucan. The images from the race show that the model was taken to the track without a second row of seats and with a safety frame.

The record time was set by a special YU7 GT with the Track Package, the official presentation of such a model will take place on May 21. It is already known that it has a 1003-horsepower twin-engine all-wheel drive system and is capable of driving up to 705 km on a single charge of a 101.7 kWh battery (according to the CLTC cycle), and is also equipped with a special aerodynamic body kit.

Nurburgring-Nordschleife is one of the most popular routes in the automotive industry for testing high—performance vehicles. Xiaomi YU7 GT turned out to be almost two seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Audi RS Q8 Performance (7 minutes 36.698 seconds), which held the record since 2024. Since 2021, the title of fastest SUV has belonged to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe (7 minutes 38.925 seconds).

Another Xiaomi model, the SU7 Ultra sedan, now ranks third in the ranking of the fastest mass-produced electric vehicles at the Nurburgring-Nordschleife, second only to the leading Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and the Yangwang U9 Xtreme hypercar from BYD.
