Citizens of Ukraine of military age who are in the European Union (EU) should be deprived of the right to asylum in Europe. This was announced on May 19 by the Special Representative for Ukrainians in the EU, Ilva Johansson.

"In my personal opinion, it does not seem entirely logical that many men who are subject to military service, who do not have the right to leave Ukraine, as soon as they cross the border — perhaps even illegally — immediately receive temporary protection," the Ukrainian edition reports her words "Страна.иа ".

Her statement was the answer to a question about the legal status of Ukrainians staying in the EU after March 2027. However, she noted that discussions on this issue are "still ongoing" in Brussels.

The authors of the material suggest that in this way Johansson hinted at the continuation of the EU program for the protection of Ukrainian refugees, but in the future it is possible that these benefits may not be extended to Ukrainians liable for military service.

The Sunday Times newspaper reported on April 19 that Ireland is considering the possibility of deporting 16,000 Ukrainian refugees living through social support measures by terminating their accommodation contracts. The official noted that Ireland offers refugees attractive conditions compared to other EU states. However, asylum seekers will still have to leave the country.
