10 people died as a result of heavy rains in China

At least 10 people died in the south and central part of China as a result of large-scale floods caused by heavy rains. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on May 19.

"Torrential rains in the south and in the center of China caused large—scale floods, which killed at least 10 people, closed schools and businesses, as well as disrupted transport and electricity supply," the material says.

The Chinese Meteorological Agency reported that the provinces of Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, as well as Guangdong and Hainan took the main natural disaster. It is noted that the authorities of Guangxi organized temporary shelters at 99 sites for more than 4 thousand residents and evacuated 7 thousand people.

On May 18, Reuters reported that as a result of a magnitude 5.2 earthquake in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwestern China, more than 7,000 residents of the city of Liuzhou were evacuated. The incident was reported earlier in the day by the Xinhua news Agency. As of 8:14 a.m. (3:14 a.m. Moscow time), two people were confirmed dead, and another was reported missing. The agency does not provide any other details.
