The forecaster predicted a decrease in heat in Moscow over the coming weekend
The hot weather in Moscow will last until about the middle of this week, and by the weekend the temperature may drop to +20 degrees. This was announced on May 19 by Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center.
"From Thursday, separate "towers" of cumulonimbus clouds will appear in the sky, and on Friday thunderstorms are possible in places, the thermometer [will be from] +27 [to] +30 [degrees]. <...> In the coming weekend <...> as a result of the passage of a cold atmospheric front, it will refresh during the day to +20 – +23 [degrees]," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
The expert explained that the May heat recorded in the capital is "a brief but vivid spectacle." According to him, such a performance usually ends with thunderstorms with hail, which return everything to the "spring channel." Tishkovets predicted a moderate air temperature in the last week of May.
A day earlier, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, called Monday, May 18, the warmest day in Moscow since the beginning of 2026. On this day, experts recorded up to +29.1 degrees. Before that, May 7 was in the lead, then the air warmed up to +28.8 degrees.
Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia on May 17 that the air temperature in Moscow on Thursday, May 21, and on Friday, May 22, could approach +30 degrees.
