India noted the independence of Russian oil supplies from US decisions
Russian oil supplies to India are carried out independently of American decisions on sanctions or exceptions from them. This was announced on May 18 by the representative of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of India Sujata Sharma.
"As for the American exclusion from sanctions against Russia, I would like to emphasize that we have bought from Russia before, and before the exclusion, and during the exclusion, and now, too," Sharma quotes Reuters.
She stressed that oil trade is carried out based on the commercial interests of oil companies. According to Sharma, neither the presence of sanctions exceptions nor their absence will affect the volume of supplies. At the same time, there is no shortage of oil in India, the representative of the department added.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 15 that India is an important partner for Russia in the field of energy supplies. He clarified that Russian-Indian relations are not limited only to oil supplies, as this is a "multifaceted cooperation", and Moscow hopes that its scope will only expand in the future.
