The mother of the attacker said that her son was the victim of a provocation. According to her, he was quietly eating on the food court when a group of strangers approached him, sprayed pepper spray in his face, and a fight broke out.
"They attacked him, took out pepper spray, brass knuckles. He was obviously in a state of passion and didn't realize it," the woman said, adding that her son's own hands were cut and bandaged.
Where the 17-year-old teenager got the knife, the mother refused to answer. She also did not tell where her son is now.
