Russia has extended the ban on the export of precious metals scrap until the end of November 2026

On May 18, the Russian government extended a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap of precious metals until the end of November this year.

"The temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap of precious metals from Russia has been extended for another 6 months — from June 1 to November 30, 2026," the website says.

It is noted that the ban covers the export of waste and scrap of precious metals, as well as metals clad with precious metals. In addition, the export of waste and scrap of electrical and electronic products, which are mainly used for the extraction of precious metals and are important for the domestic market, is limited.

At the same time, the restrictions do not apply to cathode antimony in ingots, as well as to samples taken from shipments of scrap and waste of precious metals that are exported by refining organizations. The mass of one sample should not exceed 500 g in one consignment, regardless of the number of shipments under a foreign trade contract.

Previous similar restrictions were active between December 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026. According to the government, the measures make it possible to increase the capacity utilization of Russian refining enterprises by attracting volumes of secondary raw materials for processing and production of precious metals.
