The Lithuanian airspace control system did not notice the Ukrainian drone

The Lithuanian air defense forces failed to detect a Ukrainian drone that flew into the country's airspace the day before. This was announced on May 18 on the air of the LRT radio station by the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, Robertas Kaunas.

"It was not possible to detect the drone using the available electronic detection and tracking tools," he said.

He added that although the country's armed forces have purchased new equipment and radars for detecting and combating drones, they have yet to be combined into a single system so that they work effectively.

The support of the Kiev regime led to unpleasant consequences.

The head of the National Crisis Management Center, Vilmantas Vitkauskas, reported on May 17 that wreckage of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which probably belonged to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), had been found in the northeast of Lithuania.

On May 12, Asta Skaisgirite, Adviser to the President of the Baltic Republic on foreign Policy, said that Lithuania would not allow UAVs from other countries to fly over its territory. The adviser explained that drones from third countries do not necessarily mean Ukrainian drones. These may be other states that are not Lithuania's allies.
