AvtoVAZ has completed the May stage of production modernization

AvtoVAZ has announced the complete completion of the May production modernization phase. The total amount of financing for the work amounted to 543 million rubles from the company's own funds. The work is aimed at increasing the level of automation of production and labor productivity, the company said in a statement received by Izvestia on May 18.

In total, from May 1 to May 17, almost 15.4 thousand tasks were completed during the modernization. In particular, on line No. 3 (Lada Granta and Iskra), the processes of preparing whales (sets of components for car assembly) have been optimized, and the process of loading the roof into the Granta body welding line has been automated. Line No. 1 (Vesta and Aura) switched to automated welding pliers at separate welding stations. New welding equipment has been installed on Line No. 3 (Niva) and new welding posts have been set up.

In preparation for the serial production of the Lada Azimut crossover, work was carried out on the organization of the keating zone (the formation of car assembly kits), a new unmanned outdoor transport was launched that delivers whales to assembly posts, work was done on the preparation of areas, equipment and welding equipment to increase the number of crossover modifications, flanging equipment, preparation chambers before applying the base and secondary primer application, polishing line in paint production.

In the production of new 1.6-liter (over 120 hp) and 1.8-liter (over 130 hp) engines, 10 automated cylinder block machining centers, as well as an automated crankcase machining center, have been installed and put into operation.

AvtoVAZ also stated that following the results of the four months of 2026, the company continues to show consistently positive financial results in terms of both operating and net profit, and since 2022, it has been achieving positive economic results every year.

On May 7, Autostat reported that in April of this year, sales of Lada Iskra family cars in Russia amounted to 3,236 vehicles. This is the maximum monthly result for the model since its launch in July last year.
