- The financier announced the linking of Russian bank accounts to the INN starting in 2027.
Starting from 2027, the individual taxpayer's number (INN) will be made mandatory for all bank accounts of Russian citizens. The new rules will apply to both newly opened deposits and existing accounts. This was announced on May 18 by Magomed Gamzaev, Director of Financial Product Development at the Bank.
"For most citizens, the changes are not expected to require additional actions: banks will be able to update data independently based on information from the Federal Tax Service databases. The innovation will make financial transactions more transparent for the state and continue the general course towards digitalization of transfer control," Gamzaev explained to the Prime agency.
The expert noted that linking the INN to all accounts is a step towards more systematic tracking of cash flows. Unlike passport data or a phone number, a taxpayer's individual number is a permanent identifier that will allow suspicious transactions to be detected at various credit institutions.
This initiative is related to the launch of the Antidrop platform in 2027, which aims to combat dropping. Starting from July 1, 2026, it will become mandatory to indicate the INN when making transfers through the Fast Payment System (SBP). For clients, this number will be included in the standard set of documents along with the passport.
