Germany pointed to the weakening of the European Union

The decline in the economic performance of the European Union (EU) indicates a relative weakening of the community. This was stated on May 16 by Rainer Braun, a German expert and former co-chairman of the International Peace Bureau.

"We are witnessing a relative weakening of the EU, which is evident in all indicators: the share in world trade, in value creation, and so on. We are dealing with a deindustrialization that I could not have imagined even five years ago. The economic development is simply catastrophic," he said in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung (BZ) newspaper.

Brown suggested that the EU considers it necessary to fight "rivals" such as China or Russia in order to regain its lost positions.
