The military personnel showed a column of four ground combat robots in their combat zone.

Military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are actively using ground-based robotic technical complexes (NRTC) to perform tasks in the zone of a special military operation (SVO). The fighters showed Izvestia a combat group of four such vehicles on May 17.

"The NRTC is on the front line in a strictly defined order. The mine clearance machine goes first, it clears the territory of enemy mines. Next is a combat vehicle equipped with an automatic grenade launcher. Next is the NRTC with an electronic warfare system installed that suppresses enemy drones. The NRTC closes the column, which is equipped with special smoke mines that mask the movement of the column," said Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov.

The design of such NRTCS continues to be continuously modified. The manufacturing plant improves and changes the operating schemes of the complexes based on practical experience gained during the use of drones for combat missions. So, currently, work is actively underway to modernize the chassis of the Courier NRTC. Changes occur through both the improvement of materials and the refinement of the very design of the equipment.

At the same time, the process of active training of specialists operating ground-based drones continues.

"To date, we have trained and released certified operators and technicians — more than 700 people, more than 390 calculations," said Safar Huseynov, Lieutenant Colonel, senior officer of the NRTC Specialist Training Department of the Southern Group of Forces.

The main task of the NRTC on the battlefield is to support the forces of the Russian Army. In some cases, a combat unit can fully replace a serviceman.

"The most important task is to protect our soldier. Where we can use a robot, a soldier should not go," Huseynov stressed.

In the free zone, such robots can perform a variety of tasks — to bring supplies and ammunition, to act as a combat unit. At the same time, sometimes the NRTC takes on other work.

"There are units that, as I have heard, use it simply as a construction equipment: to bring material, load something, unload," added a representative of the manufacturer NRTK Courier.

The units maintain drones and ground-based robots near the line of combat contact.

On May 10, sappers of the Center group of forces used the Courier NRTC with an electromagnetic cannon to mine liberated settlements in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). The device creates a powerful pulse that detonates the magnetic sensors of the fuses at a safe distance. The robot is controlled remotely, which eliminates the risk to personnel.
