Ruslan Pankratov, a former deputy of the Riga City Council, said on May 16 that residents of Latvia face high prices for housing and communal services, which is why they have to save on food.
"They pay €270 for a two-room apartment [with an area of] 47 square meters. This is for utilities," Pankratov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
It is noted that this is a fairly high cost, given that the average salary in the country is €800 after taxes. In this regard, Latvians are buying cheap products, looking for products without a markdown.
