The film story "Pinocchio" was shown to European viewers in Cannes
The Art Pictures Distribution company, which is part of the National Media Group (NMG) holding, presented new projects to foreign partners at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15. Among them is the movie story "Pinocchio" about a cheerful and naughty boy.
The painting, which uses modern technology to convey its view of fairy-tale characters, fascinates both children and adults. The famous song about Pinocchio is now being sung in English. In addition to the screenings, representatives of Art Pictures Distribution in Cannes sign important contracts.
"We are trying to do everything in time: to buy and sell something. Pinocchio will be shown today. Another promising project is "Alpine Ballad" with Milos Bikovic, a co—production from Serbia. We tell our partners about this project, there is a bright and beautiful trailer, there is even a presale. We expect that we will close a couple of deals, maybe not a couple, within the framework of this festival," said Anastasia Korchagina, CEO of Art Pictures Distribution.
The Alpine Ballad is an example of modern cultural diplomacy. This is the first Russian-Serbian film to be shot under the agreement on cooperation in the field of cinematography between the two countries.
NMG pays great attention to international cooperation. In 2025 alone, the holding's content was sold to 90 countries.
For World Book Day on April 23, Art Pictures Distribution analyzed the data of film distribution and TV screenings of film adaptations: among the leaders are "Pinocchio", "Cheburashka", as well as large-scale historical dramas. The film adaptation of Alexei Tolstoy's fairy tale, which was released at the box office on January 1, 2026 and collected 2.4 billion rubles. The film was also shown in cinemas in the USA, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Cyprus, and is currently being distributed in Latin America.
