Analysts assessed the readiness of Russian operators to implement 5G

The analytical agency J'son & Partners Consulting has prepared a study on the value of 5G/5G-ready technology for businesses. As part of the work, the experience and plans of the largest industrial companies were studied, as well as the readiness of telecom operators to implement the technology, the agency said in a statement.

To prepare the study, J'son & Partners Consulting reviewed more than 90 well-known examples of the implementation and piloting of 5G/5G-ready projects, interviewed 60 experts from Russia's largest industrial companies and telecom operators, and conducted interviews with heads of digitalization and industrial automation departments.

Based on the results of the study, the agency concluded that MTS is the most ready operator to implement 5G technology for enterprises and businesses within the framework of the chosen methodology. The assessment was based on a set of criteria, including the active piloting and implementation of 5G/5G-ready, the availability of industry solutions and offers for customers from various industries.

Next, by a small margin from each other, are Beeline, Megafon and T2.

"The main group of criteria that determined MTS' strong position was its high activity in the field of piloting and implementing 5G/5G-ready solutions, as well as full coverage of key industries in demand for 5G/5G-ready with piloting/implementation cases. In terms of product portfolios, when assessing the availability of products, operators are comparable," J'son & Partners Consulting said in a statement.

According to the study, in the structure of publicly implemented 5G/5G-ready cases, MTS accounts for more than half of industry-specific projects and projects in industry, including oil and gas, petrochemicals, mining and metallurgy, of the total volume of such projects. At the same time, Beeline has registered a large number of public projects in the field of R&D, and Megafon in the segment of business solutions.
