The Chinese Foreign Ministry noted the achievement of a number of consensuses between Trump and Xi Jinping

President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump had an in-depth exchange of views on key issues on the bilateral and global agenda, reaching a number of new consensuses. This was announced on May 15 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

It is noted that the two heads of state agreed to consider building Sino-American relations of constructive strategic stability as a new positioning of relations between the two countries.

"This will serve as a strategic guideline for bilateral relations for the next three years and even longer, will contribute to the stable, healthy and sustainable development of Sino-American relations and will bring more peace, prosperity and progress to the whole world," the official representative of the Xinhua News agency quoted him as saying.

The Foreign Ministry added that the sides also reached an important consensus on resolving mutual concerns, and agreed to strengthen contacts and coordination on international and regional issues.

Trump said on May 15 that China and the United States had reached a number of important agreements during his visit and talks with the Chinese president. In turn, Xi Jinping noted that China and the United States agreed to maintain a stable situation in trade and economic relations, and also reached a consensus on expanding cooperation in all areas.

The US President arrived in China on a state visit on May 13. This visit was the first visit by an American leader to China in the last nine years.
