On May 15, People's Artist Alexander Tikhonov was appointed artistic director of the Igor Moiseev Folk Dance Ensemble. This was announced on May 15 by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.

Since 2011, this post has been held by Elena Shcherbakova. She is also moving to the position of president of the ensemble.

Tikhonov started practicing choreography at the age of four. In 1993-1998, he studied at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, and in 1998 he entered the college at the Moiseev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble. At the same time, Tikhonov has been an artist of the ensemble since 2000.
