The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has proposed innovations in the system of organizing photo and video recording of violations at railway crossings. The draft document was posted on the agency's website on May 15.

In particular, it is proposed to equip crossings with special technical means of detecting violations, with the help of which the system will work automatically.

"The use of this tool is aimed at reducing the number of cases of collisions between vehicles and railway rolling stock, due to the timely suppression of violations and the subsequent bringing of perpetrators to administrative responsibility based on the recorded data," the Ministry of Transport noted.

First of all, it is proposed to equip crossings where collisions have already occurred with means of fixation, which will maximize the use of the system to prevent such situations and reduce accident rates, the department said.

By the end of 2025, the number of violators who drove cars with hidden, modified and forged license plates decreased by 18.8%. So, in just one year, the number of drivers punished under Parts 2, 4 of Article 12.2 of the Administrative Code amounted to 35.8 thousand people.
