Reuters reported on Israel's plans to sue The New York Times for defamation.

Israel intends to file a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times newspaper over a publication alleging the alleged abuse of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. This order was given by the head of the Cabinet of the Jewish state, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Reuters news agency reported on May 14.

"They slandered the soldiers of Israel and spread slander <...>, trying to create a false symmetry between <...> [the Palestinian movement] Hamas and the valiant soldiers of Israel," Netanyahu said in a statement.
