After the start of the special military operation, some people who considered themselves "defenders of the rights" of Russia left the country. This opinion was expressed on May 14 by Yana Lantratova, Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Issues of Public and Religious Associations and Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.

"The special military operation has put a lot in place. Well—known "rights defenders" quickly found themselves abroad and began to speak out against their country," Lantratova said in a column for the Telegram channel "Especially for RT."

According to her, thanks to this, a society based on solidarity, mutual assistance and love for Russia has been formed. Lantratova gave examples of the manifestation of civil society, speaking about people helping Russian fighters, as well as victims of terrorist attacks.

"It [civil society] proceeds from simple principles: not to abandon each other, to feel someone else's pain as a common one, to be worthy compatriots," Lantratova emphasized.

Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, said on the same day that relocators who harm Russia and intend to return to their homeland would face legal proceedings there. At the same time, those citizens of the Russian Federation who simply left the country for work or recreational purposes will always have the opportunity to return.
