The director of ZAES called the targeted attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the station staff

A drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) purposefully pursued a car with two employees of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was announced on May 14 by station director Yuri Chernichuk.

"An absolutely targeted strike. As eyewitnesses say, this drone, the first drone that hit the cabin, it was escorting this moving car along the road," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to him, as a result of the attack, one employee is in serious condition with an abdominal wound, the second victim suffered leg injuries. Chernichuk also noted that the NPP's security systems were not damaged, and the plant continues to operate normally.

The attack on the employees of the NPP became known earlier in the day. It was noted that it was difficult to evacuate the victims due to multiple attacks by Ukrainian drones. They were taken to the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, where they received medical assistance.

On May 3, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a drone attack on the external radiation monitoring laboratory of the NPP. The IAEA experts visited the station on May 4 and confirmed the damage to the laboratory's equipment. On May 7, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced the need to prevent risks near nuclear facilities.
