The US Armed Forces have canceled the decision to transfer more than 4,000 American troops to Poland. This was reported on May 13 by the Defense News portal.

"On Wednesday, an army representative confirmed this decision, but did not provide details and redirected all questions to the Ministry of Defense, which did not respond to a request for information," the publication says.

As Defense News notes, during the May 12 congressional hearings on the draft military budget, information about the cancellation of the troop transfer was not announced. Reports of possible changes began to spread after the American military personnel, according to the portal, notified their relatives about the cancellation of the shipment to Poland. Currently, more than 10,000 American military personnel are deployed on a rotational basis in Poland.

Latvia has expressed its readiness to deploy an additional US contingent on its territory after Washington's decision to reduce its military presence in Germany by more than 5,000 people. The decision by the administration of US President Donald Trump to withdraw some troops from Germany has increased concerns within NATO about the continued US military presence in Europe.

Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel noted on May 2 that the withdrawal of US troops from Germany is perceived very positively by many Germans, but Washington's decision may be a signal for Europe.
