On May 14, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silin announced her resignation amid a government crisis.

"At the moment, political envy and narrow party interests have taken over responsibility. Seeing a strong candidate for the post of defense minister, the political windbags chose a crisis — a government crisis. That is why I am announcing my resignation. This is not an easy decision, but in this situation it is the right one," the LSM portal quotes the Prime Minister as saying.
