The newly discovered asteroid 2026 JH2 will approach Earth on May 18. This was reported on May 13 by ABC News channel.

It is noted that the celestial body will fly at a distance of about 90 thousand km from the planet, which is about a quarter of the distance to the Moon. The asteroid was recorded just a few days ago by experts from five observatories, including Farpoint in Kansas and Mount Lemmon in Arizona. According to estimates by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the object's size ranges from about 15 to 30 m.

"These asteroids have an orbit that is larger than the Earth's orbit around the Sun, and their trajectory crosses the Earth's orbit," NASA said in a statement.

At the same time, the object itself belongs to near-Earth objects of the Apollo class, whose orbits intersect the Earth's orbit.
