The main risks of rapid weight loss in the warm season are associated with a deficiency of essential substances for the body. This was reported on May 14 in the press service of Roskachestvo.

Drastic calorie restriction, as experts explained, results in the loss of muscle tissue rather than fat. When returning to a normal diet, the dropped kilograms are often gained back in excess. In addition, strict diets cause disruptions in the gastrointestinal tract and can lead to an eating disorder.

Mono-diets are particularly dangerous when a person eats a single product, such as buckwheat, kefir or apples. Such diets do not provide the body with proteins, fats, carbohydrates and trace elements in sufficient quantities. Such a deficiency of nutrients in the body is a blow to the immune system. In addition, a person who is on a strict mono-diet often suffers from skin, nails and teeth, and the quality of sleep decreases.

Roskachestvo advised to remember that the safe rate of weight loss for health is no more than 0.5–1 kg per week. Losing weight faster almost always means dehydration and muscle loss, not fat loss. The diet should be balanced — with sufficient amounts of protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Regular exercise should be an integral part of any diet. The best and safest option is to consult a doctor beforehand.

The ministry also noted that it is easier to keep fit and maintain a balance of nutrients if functional foods are present in the diet — dairy products enriched with vitamins, probiotics or dietary fiber, breads, sweets and drinks. They help to fill the nutritional deficit without additional additives, normalize digestion and strengthen the immune system, which is especially important during the period of calorie reduction.

Nutritionist Irina Pisareva told on May 13 how to lose weight at home. According to her, a personalized approach to nutrition and health is still inaccessible to many Russians due to the high cost of tests, but you can start taking care of your health without expensive research. The specialist advised to give up semi-finished products and fast food, choose whole foods more often, monitor the balance of protein and fiber in the diet, eat more slowly and chew food thoroughly.
