Winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren can enroll in higher education institutions without entrance tests in the field of study or specialty corresponding to the Olympiad profile. Sergey Kravtsov, the head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, recalled this on May 14.

"The status of the winner and prize-winner (of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren. — Ed.) gives students the right to enroll in leading Russian universities without entrance tests in the field of study or specialty corresponding to the profile of the Olympiad," he told RIA Novosti.

Monetary incentives are also provided for the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad. A one-time payment is provided from the region, while monthly support is available for the entire period of study at the university as part of presidential grants.

A day earlier, Kravtsov also said that the total number of participants in the school Olympiad in Russia had reached 24.8 million people. More than 1.7 million people took part in the Olympiad at the municipal level. At the same time, more than 153 thousand students reached the regional stage.

On April 4, leading Russian universities updated the admission rules for applicants — the changes affected the list of entrance examinations, the procedure for submitting documents and the target recruitment system. A number of universities have revised the lists of entrance exams. So, at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, physics has become mandatory for admission to engineering specialties.
