Lipchanin was sentenced for the death of two people in an accident

The Gryazinsky City Court of the Lipetsk region sentenced a 43-year-old motorist from the city of Lipetsk for the deaths of two people in an accident. This is reported by the joint press service of the judicial system of the region.

The accident occurred on October 4, 2025, on the Orel–Tambov federal highway. The driver of a Nissan Almera drove at a speed of 100 km/ h at a speed limit of 90 km/ h into oncoming traffic to overtake, but was not convinced of the safety of the maneuver and its successful completion to the bridge.

Trying to avoid a collision with a turning truck, the motorist abruptly pulled over to the side of the road and lost control. The car flew into a ditch and tipped over on its side.

Two passengers of the car were killed, two more were hospitalized. The driver of the car was released after medical treatment, GOROD48 writes.

The court found Lipchanin guilty under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two persons") and sentenced him to two and a half years in prison to be served in a penal colony and the deprivation of a driver's license for three years.

In addition, compensation in the amount of 870 thousand rubles and burial expenses in the amount of 63 thousand rubles was collected in favor of the son of one of the deceased passengers. The verdict has already entered into force.

In February, a court in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District sentenced a motorist who got behind the wheel drunk and caused a fatal accident. At a speed of over 100 km/h, he drove into oncoming traffic to overtake several cars at once, but abruptly decided to turn back. Twisting the steering wheel to the right, he crashed into a special vehicle that was clearing the road. His passenger died on the spot.
