On May 13, the State Duma adopted in the first reading and immediately as a whole a law according to which participants in a special military operation (SVO) and their spouses are exempt from obligations on overdue loans. We are talking about debts in the amount of up to 10 million rubles.

The document was prepared by a group of deputies from various factions. Igor Igoshin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Protection of Competition, clarified that two conditions must be met to apply the rule. The contract for military service for a period of one year or more must be concluded no earlier than May 1, 2026. At the same time, a judicial act on debt collection must enter into legal force or a writ of execution must be issued by May 1, 2026.

Similar measures have already been introduced in 2024. According to the deputy, this allowed providing additional assistance to thousands of military families.

"One of the key priorities in the work of the deputies of the State Duma is the support of our defenders, their families and friends. The bill passed today is another step in this direction," Igoshin said.
