Cooperation between Russia and India has shown steady growth over the past few years. This was stated on May 13 by Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"The last few years have been marked by the steady and progressive growth of our bilateral partnership. Its economic and energy components have become even more important," Jaishankar said, the entry was posted on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The Minister separately noted the political interaction between the two countries and stressed that cooperation between Russia and India in the field of environmental protection, as well as in the development of science and technology through bilateral exchanges will only expand.
In turn, Lavrov said that relations between India and Russia are so rich and diverse that they cannot be destroyed. He recalled that friendship between the states began with India's independence. From the very beginning, Indian leaders visited the USSR, and the leaders of the Soviet Union visited India, which laid a solid foundation in the form of trusting personal relations between the countries.
Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia in 2026 to participate in the XXIV annual Russian-Indian summit. He stated that Russia and India are working hand in hand in establishing a just multipolar world and expressed confidence in the agreements reached with India.
