"Unfortunately, corruption scandals of this kind during the conflict create serious problems for the country," he stated.

The source added that the revealed schemes undermine the "defense capabilities", as well as damage Kiev's international reputation. They, as he stressed, do not contribute to the process of European integration.

The case against the former head of Zelensky's office may also be a signal from Washington about the need for concessions.

The day before, representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) filed charges in a corruption case against the former head of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Andrei Ermak, and five other defendants. The former head of the presidential office, commenting on this situation, said that he considers what is happening unfounded.

The next day, the French newspaper Le Monde pointed to the aggravation of Zelensky's position against this background. It was noted that now any of his alleged anti-corruption statements by the President of Ukraine will be viewed more skeptically and in more detail. At the same time, Politico called the Yermak scandal a contradiction for Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU).
